Bio
Aidan Deighan is a composer and producer dedicated to creating performance art which is thought provoking, engaging, and entertaining. His work seeks to capture a fresh perspective on the human condition using original sights and sounds. Live performance is important in all of his original works to create a multi-sensory experience. Narrative, staging, and theatrics are central to his creative process and musicianship.
Collaboration and a multi-faceted approach to creating art provide a framework for Aidan’s artistic endeavors. Recent collaborations include Making it Click, an hour long show in eleven scenes written with playwright Madison Epner about the effects of communication technology on young people's mental and social health in the aftermath of the covid pandemic, which premiered in December, 2023. In May, 2023, he worked with choreographer Leah Logsdon to create With Care, canned vegetables, a work for dance with multi-stylistic, fixed-media music. He produced To Be in Concert, a performance installation which premiered April 2022 where dance, music, and technology came together to create an interactive experience between performers and audience.
Other collaborations include several works for dance with the Roanoke Ballet Theatre and compositions for virtuosos such as cellist Chris Gross of Talea Ensemble and the violin viola duo Kevin and Bryan Matheson. He has composed songs after text by Shakespeare for Anne Arundel Community College's production of Twelfth Night, and has done sound design and produced at several community theaters in the Baltimore/Annapolis/D.C. area.
Aidan is from southwestern Virginia and is currently based in Baltimore, MD. He holds a BM in Composition and Recording Arts and Sciences from Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University where he studied with Michael Hersch, Scott Metcalfe, Ed Tetreault, and Drew Mazurek.
